Overcoming Challenges
Serving as a Juror for the iF Design Award Amidst a Global Pandemic
In a year fraught with challenges and changes due to the global pandemic, the iF Design Award adapted and persevered, proving that creativity and innovation can flourish even in the most trying of times. I am humbled and proud to have been a part of this resilient effort, serving for a second consecutive year on the esteemed jury panel.
This year, the international, independent iF jury panel brought together 98 eminent design experts from over 20 nations. Our collective task was not just to reward the most innovative contributions, but also to unearth the next rising stars of the design industry. Guided by the new jury structure and led by our Chairpersons, we embarked on this journey with resolve and adaptability, qualities that were paramount in these challenging times.
For the first time, we used the newly developed digital iF jury tool, demonstrating how technology can adapt and facilitate even the most complex processes. With this tool, we were able to record and provide comprehensive feedback on each entry, fostering a transparent and thorough judging process. Our diverse cultural backgrounds sparked enriching discussions and ensured the independence and variety of our jury groups.
Serving as a juror for the iF Design Award in such an extraordinary year has been a unique and gratifying experience. The adaptability and resilience demonstrated by the competition and its participants reaffirmed my belief in the power of design to overcome obstacles and thrive in adversity.
Being invited to serve on the jury panel for the second time in a row is a tremendous honor. The renewed invitation is an affirmation of my contributions, a responsibility I deeply cherish. This experience has further reinforced my commitment to fostering innovative and inspiring design.
The iF Design Award continues to be a beacon of extraordinary achievements in design, even amidst the turbulence of a global pandemic. As we look towards the future, I remain eager and committed to supporting the ongoing evolution of design and contributing to the inspiring journeys of the next generation of talented designers.
